This ensured his invitation into the 1980 World's Strongest Guy and on his 1st entry he arrived 3rd at the rear of the by then more knowledgeable Invoice Kazmaier and Lars Hedlund. In 1981 he returned and enhanced to 2nd position, all over again behind Kazmaier, and in 1982 he arrived fourth.
